So, uh, in the middle of listening too... can't remember... it froze. Rebooted, and now everytime it loads up I get this dead Ipod symbol, sort of like pictured above. Mac website better have a fix for this one

wow. That's impressive. Maybe it's time to replace the battery. I hear you have to send it back to Mac for that.
Actually, managed to find a fix. Seems like Apple did a good job making the Ipod's system robust. hot diggity
