This was interesting.
I hadn't given it much thought until I read Davis' post but this really is incredibly ironic: The Pope defends Muhammed when a couple people in Denmark make a cartoon of him, but we never hear a peep from him when his own God is disrespected daily in a thousand different, even ruder ways.
That said, we are also fortunate to serve a God who doesn't need our protection. Burning down several norse embassies (and the Chilean embassy to boot) as a means of preserving the sanctity of the name of Allah's foremost prophet seems to me similar to the prophets on mount Carmel cutting themselves. Not because they are trying to get Allah's attention, but because the duty falls on them to arouse and defend him.
Christians serve a God that is mighty, and who doesn't need our faith or our "protection." To him the governments of the world are dust. Praise and thanks to God that he has given us, the human race, so much grace, mercy, and time to turn to back to Him, even when we have maligned his name so frequently.
" Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear
and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry
and you be destroyed in your way,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him."

I really was upset about the cartoons. Why make such cartoons when they are infactual and false?
If people really read about the prophet peace be upon him they would realise he was a mercy to mankind.
Moreover, as Muslims we aren't allowed to draw pictures of Prophets, furthermore, we aren't meant to disrespect someone elses religion. We respect all prophets, Moses, Abraham, Jesus, so why not respect our dear Prophet?
Hien's comments make a Bible verse jumped out from my mind:"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." I just watched movie "end of the spear", it is a true story. Although it doesn't show what exactly behind the sacrifice of these five missionaries, it shows the HATE will destroy us human! What can save us from the curse of hell and sins: forgiveness and love!!! Yes, Tim is right, our almight God doesn't need to be protected by argues, hate or weapon! He gave His only Son: Jesus as a good sample: forgiveness, holiness, love, mercy, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control, gentlness, humble. God is humble! Why human beings fall?-- Proud!! We worship and praise our awesome Lord, why don't we learn these characteristics from Him? Spend much time to wait upon Him, prais Him and love each other!!!
Sorry, I have to clarify one thing:Jesus is the Son of God and I don't think it is proper to say He was a prophet! He humbled Himself in order to save us and give us the salvation. He is the lamb sacrified for our sins. From that day on, we don't need to cover our faces when God's glory shining on us. I would like to share with you desription of Jesus in ISAIAH (a great prophet):He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isa 53:4 Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
